Ryan C. Anderson, DDS
Dr. Anderson is a distinguished periodontist with a passion for excellence in dental care and a commitment to patient well-being. Born in 1976, in Medina, Ohio, Dr. Anderson spent his formative years immersed in a family environment that instilled values of hard work, dedication, and compassion.
After graduating as valedictorian from Cloverleaf High School in Lodi, Dr. Anderson pursued his academic journey at Duke University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology, graduating cum laude in 1998. He then continued his pursuit of excellence at The Ohio State University College of Dentistry, obtaining his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree with Magna Cum Laude honors in 2002.
Driven by a passion for periodontics and a desire to provide advanced care to his patients, Dr. Anderson furthered his education at the University of Rochester Eastman Dental Center, where he completed his residency in Periodontics in 2005. He achieved board certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology in 2006, a testament to his expertise and dedication to his field.
A dedicated educator, Dr. Anderson serves as a Faculty member and Clinical Site Director for Jacksonville University.
Since relocating to Lynchburg in August 2005, Dr. Anderson has been a trusted pillar in the dental community, specializing in periodontal health and implant dentistry. In 2009, he co-founded Periodontal Health Associates alongside Dr. Sherman Smock, establishing a premier dental practice dedicated to delivering exceptional periodontal and dental implant care while fostering lasting patient relationships.
With a focus on patient-centered treatment and utilizing the latest advancements in periodontal therapy, Dr. Anderson provides comprehensive care tailored to each individual’s unique needs. His commitment to continuing education ensures that he remains at the forefront of his field, offering the highest standard of care to his patients.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. Anderson leads a fulfilling personal life enriched by a diverse array of interests and passions. An accomplished musician, he has been a devoted lover of classical music since childhood, mastering both the piano and the trumpet. His musical journey has taken him from studying classical composers like Chopin to performing modern hits by artists such as Elton John and Billy Joel.
Dr. Anderson also shares a lifelong fascination with automobiles, inherited from his father, an auto mechanic. His love for cars led him to an ongoing amateur racing career, spanning from dirt oval tracks in Ohio to road courses across the United States. Despite never clinching a victory on the road course, Dr. Anderson finds joy and fulfillment in the exhilarating experience of competitive racing.
Dr. Anderson is happily married to his wife Alessandra, and together they cherish the joys of parenthood with their daughter, Ana Olivia, born in 2018. Family holds a central place in Dr. Anderson’s life, providing love, support, and inspiration in both his personal and professional pursuits.
With a dedication to excellence, a passion for patient care, and a commitment to lifelong learning, Dr. Anderson embodies the values of integrity, compassion, and professionalism at the heart of Periodontal Health Associates.
